Looking for spicy ramen in Shinjuku? Rishiri (利しり) is a late-night legend tucked deep in Kabukicho’s neon alleys.

They’ve been dishing out ramen for over 50 years, and like the district they’re in, they’ve seen it all. Fights. First dates. Regret. Redemption. You name it.

They’re open until 5 AM. So whether you’re stumbling out of a bar or just up late chasing ramen, Rishiri delivers.

Orochon Ramen: Spicy Ramen Madness in Shinjuku

Their signature bowl is “Orochon Ramen,” a soy sauce–based spicy ramen. You choose your heat level on a scale of 1 to 9. I went with level 5 - pretty darn fiery.

The broth is a meaty blend of pork bones, chicken bones, soft shell turtle (suppon), and kelp from Rishiri Island (yes, the Hokkaido one - hence the shop’s name).

The toppings are no joke: slices of pork rib, bell peppers, negi (spring onion), and cabbage. It's like the ramen version of a bento box exploded in the bowl.

Thick Noodles

And speaking of bowls, they’re massive. You won’t walk away hungry.

Late-Night Comfort Food

Look, this isn’t a delicate, Michelin-starred ramen. But it doesn’t need to be. Rishiri is ramen built for long nights and big appetites. It’s comfort food with character. Furthermore, its staying power of five decades says a lot.

You can even customize your spice level, which makes it fun for both chili-heads and spice cowards alike.
